NZ Travellers - Outbound Travel Insurance

For New Zealand permanent residents travelling overseas.

Why do I need travel and medical insurance?

Life is full of surprises & not all of them are pleasant, but you already know that which is why you are looking into travel insurance. Travel and Medical insurance provides essential protection for you and your family, even those who are still at home. The medical emergency and associated transportation costs that can be incurred during international travel are beyond the reach of the average traveller and can destroy family finances.

What very important things will my Uni-Care policy cover?

Uni-Care covers medical evacuation and repatriation with no limit in regard to costs and the emergency travel and accommodation costs of parents or other family members if you are hospitalised due to a critical illness or accident.

Uni-Care operates a dedicated claims office with 24 hour assistance.

Which plan should I take?

Plan Areas

Area A - for travel to the United States of America, Central America, South America, Canada, Japan, Antarctica, Greenland, Artic & Continental Europe
Area B - for travel to the United Kingdom and the Rest of the World excluding countries specified under Plan A or C
Area C - for travel to Australia, South Pacific Islands, Norfolk Island, Chatham Islands

This Policy is designed to provide cover for any person for Travel beyond the territorial limits of New Zealand who is aged 80 years or less. The Policy is intended for New Zealand residents travelling outside of New Zealand but may be used by non-New Zealand residents wanting to upgrade their existing Uni-Care policy to cover temporary trips outside of New Zealand. Travel can be for business, leisure or educational purposes, but cover is not provided for Manual or dangerous work or Hazardous leisure pursuits.

What if my Travel Plans Change?

You can upgrade your current policy:

  1. For short-term excursions to higher risk/cost countries during the period of insurance.
  2. For extended visits to higher risk/cost countries en route from and to New Zealand.
  3. To cover high value personal items you have purchased while travelling overseas.
