Emergency medical care

If you unexpectedly become ill or require urgent treatment while in New Zealand, the policy covers qualifying medical costs up to $250,000 per year. This includes hospital admission, surgery, prescriptions, diagnostic tests, and specialist appointments.

Cancer treatment

Reasonable costs of cancer treatment in a New Zealand public hospital, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and related hospital expenses, up to $100,000 per year.

Repatriation

If you need to return to your home country due to serious illness or injury, the policy provides up to $250,000 for travel costs for you and, where necessary, an accompanying family member.

Return of remains

In the unfortunate event of death, the policy offers up to $50,000 to assist with returning your remains to your home country or contributing to funeral costs in New Zealand.

Parent Boost Visa cover is underwritten by the New Zealand licenced insurer UniMed assessed by AM Best, a global credit rating agency, to have a Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent)which meets the Parent Boost Visa credit rating requirements.

Things you should know

Yes. Immigration New Zealand requires all Parent Boost Visa applicants to have health insurance for the duration of their visits to New Zealand.

The policy is linked to the length of your Parent Boost Visa, subject to terms and conditions such as your payment of premiums.

It includes emergency medical care, cancer treatment, repatriation, and return of remains. Optional cover for certain pre-existing conditions may be available.

Cover for pre-existing conditions is not automatic. It may be available on application for an additional premium, subject to approval.

Yes. If you become seriously ill or injured and need to return home, repatriation costs are covered up to the policy limit.

The policy provides financial assistance for returning your remains to your home country or contributing to funeral costs in New Zealand.

Yes. You can access approved medical providers in New Zealand. Some treatments may require prior approval.
