The safest option for insuring students is to put cover in place from the day the student first leaves home and then keep cover in force until the student’s final return home when their New Zealand studies are complete, whether that is in 6 months or 5 years.
For returning students, the simple way of ensuring that policies remain current is to work to the renewal notices that we send every month. Then, providing consecutive policies we will be able to provide evidence of insurance as required by INZ with subsequent visa applications.
For new students, arrange insurance to be effective from when they leave home and remain current until their New Zealand studies are complete.
For students who are nearing completion, or expected to complete in the current academic year, make sure that insurance is in place from the expiry of their existing policy until their visa expiry date or their earlier return home date.
